I came for the free Wi-Fi, I stayed for the food.

This place is great. The rooms are good, the TV is great, etc. As a hotel room, it certainly meets my expectations.

What is amazing is the atmosphere, the friendliness, and most of all the food.

The owner is passionate about what he does - the food is spectacular, the atmosphere is the ideal cozy English country pub/restaurant. Lots of character, wonderful eclectic yet tasteful decor about the place. As soon as you walk in you realize what zest they have for good food and drink here. The owner is a chef, and has a French chef in some nights.

Nice range of whisky, home-made ice cream, fresh mussels... the only place I've found with turkish delight ice cream. The best chicken liver pate I've ever had. First time since I can't even remember in England that a steak was cooked properly. I've enjoyed a full week of culinary heaven.

Not to mention the wonderfully friendly staff who make you feel like you're part of the family here. It's the kind of traditional, welcoming, local feel that typifies what is best about England.

If you want nice, safe, sterile, characterless boredom by all means go stay at a Hilton and good luck to you. If you want a stay to remember, this is the place.

Unforgettable, and I only hope I can find another excuse to come and stay here again.
